He was the best White soul singer in America, but stayed in Louisiana most of his life. He used to come to the Dynasty Lounge in Monroe regularly. Sometimes with Jerry Count Jackson, who later became Jerry Lacroix and was great too. As a duo, they were the best in America. Better than Sam and Dave, but no hit records. I saw him early with the Boogie Kings and the Roller Coasters later on North 4th street in Monroe. When I later went to Baton Rouge, I saw them often. They played in Eunice a lot , he was great. His albums from the 60's are great. I will miss him.

My Dad used to play at the Dynasty regular back in the day. Said that's where he first heard GG and Lacroix. Fell in love with the Boogie Kings from the first time he heard them. Raised me on a steady diet of that stuff.
