I heard a lot about this game from launch and it just died afterwards. What’s up with that?

I rented it and enjoyed it.
Lots of different ways it can play out, much more so than a Telltale game that’s for sure.
I wouldn’t buy it, but it is easily worth renting.
The story didn’t bother me, but if politics in gaming/movies etc can trigger you then you may not enjoy it.

garbage. utter garbage.
Of the 3 main characters, only 1 has an interesting story arc from beginning to end - and apparently you can frick that up royally in the first 3rd of the game if you make the wrong choice. The girl had a chance to be an intriguing story but they fricked that up 2/3rds in. Robot jesus is fricking stupid from the jump.
The over-the-top references to racism and jim crow laws are beyond distracting, they absolutely take away from the game. Hell I watched Northernlion's (your typical millennial Canadian progressive) playthough and even he thought it was far too in your face with the racism references.
The only thing that game got right was the fact that your choices have real impact that change the entirety of the game, unlike some games that have claimed that in the past (looking at you, Mass Effect series).
Hard pass.

Some people hate walking simulators. I think the story was good. Acting was good. Visuals were fantastic.
Politics turned some folks off. Usually that nonsense does bother me, but the reality is we would probably treat androids even worse than depicted.
If you like a story driven walking simulator this game is fantastic. If you need lots of gameplay, not so much.
Decisions do matter. Having said that, it is pretty easy to get all of the good endings. Which means you lose some of the emotional impact.
I watched a stream last week with someone messing up one decision which changed the end of the game in a huge disturbing way. I didn't even know you could get to the Android Concentration Camp.
Oh, great score to the game too. Really love me some Kara's theme.
When the North android comes up for sale, I've got 8k all ready to go.
