When he said "marine grease", he was referring to marine BEARING grease. Not sure if it's necessary, but it is good grease if you run through a lot of water, I suppose.

I picked up the marine bearing grease. I just wasn't sure I wanted to use it.
I used the Chevron synthetic we use at work. It lasts in a heavily caustic environment. So I trust it.
I did use marine frese on all the surfaces and bolts and pins though.
