Have people in this thread really never had to show I.D. with their credit card?

I get id’d All the time when checking into hotels. Also many times using a credit card. May be store or hotel chain policy. Many FL places also, as well as TX.
More and more ask ID when using a credit card. Don’t use a debit card so can’t address that.
