NEW Emulator thread - RP3, MAME64 - RP3 Discussion

Let this thread sink if it does.
I've been building MAME machines since 2006 or so, my memory isn't what it was.
At any rate, I've built 3 cabinets all running on Windows PC base, with IPAC Keyboard controllers.
Now we have all the cheap button sets from Amazon. LED lit, with CONTROLLER emulators for RP3+ configs. I just made one and tested it, it works ok. The Raspberry Pie 3 B+ is an amazing little card.
I'm working on a bartop with this config. Anyone else experimenting with it?

I use it for retropie setups. Thought about using it for MAME, but I like using arcade monitors in my cab and need crt emudriver.
IPacs are nifty setups. I run one with groovygamer RGB buttons.

Are you using heavy assed CRT monitors? Damn your post makes little sense. I'm sorry.

Lol, yeah I have an old school heavy arse CRT in mine that still works at 15khz or 31khz like the old arcade monitors. CRT emudriver lets you use certain PC video cards to output to them.
You on BYOAC build your own arcade controls forum? That's where I learned my stuff, those guys are super helpful.

Here is an extremely old pic of mine, only thing I have on my iPad. Not at home at the moment. It's a 4 player TMNT art cab.

That's pretty neat actually. I got burned out on the heavy weights on the cabs I was building, I quit using MDF and went to Cab grade plywood. I dropped CRT monitors in favor of LED TV. (hell they are cheaper now) and added scanlines if/when customers requested.
I still use a MAME64 build, but I swear, the RP3+ build I have now is amazing, in that all the artwork fits SO NICE on a widescreen monitor.

Looks incredible Boss!!!! Awesome. I'll try to drum up a pic of my cab

This is my 3rd home cab, built with a real gaming PC (only after I upgraded!) but that doesn't matter. The roms I love and want to run can run on a Win XP laptop.
This is an old NBA JAM cabinet, converted to a Mortal Kombat, converted to my layout.

I have it all bezeled in now, and all controllable without the BT keyboard.

Here is an all-in one gamer I made from a Raspberry Pie 3 +, and an ammo box from Harbor Freight.

That's cool. I've been wanting to build a raspberry pi machine but have no clue where to even start.

Pay attention to this thread. I'll make it my mission to get RP3 going.
First step - get one of these:
LINK
That's not my affiliate link, it's the first one I found. I don't HAVE an affiliate link.
This kit comes with controllers, and a Mem Card. You will want a bigger mem Card eventually.
If I die tomorrow, You have a good deal and someone else will come along and tell you how to get the good games and all.

Ultimately, for the img I recommend, you need a 64 gb card

Then, we can discuss imaging, And Usenet - NNTP protocol, the old internet new groups. And Binary attachments.
Anyone interested can respond, anyone wishing to do it themselves can try torrent. I gave a link earlier, Arcade Punks. You can add a dot com to that.
If you'd rather do it one by one, Emu Paradise. Again. .com.
Edited for spelling.

That looks like a good setup. I see one of the reviewers complaining about it not having a fan. Is that something I should be worried about?

RP3 B+
FYI for anyone wondering. Same GPU and RAM but does hit higher OCs. Gives slightly better performance. Better off with an Odroid if N64 and PS1 gaming is your favorite retro platform.
