I'm here stationed at Ft. Carson, and I just had ACL surgery. I have only had a chance to play at the course on post, it was pretty good.
Has anyone played any course around here, and what do yall recommend?
I was told to try at the Air Force Academy, this is after I heal up.
Any other recommendations? I'm willing to travel also

The broadmore I think is the course to play there. A buddy played arrowhead near Denver a couple weeks ago and loved it

I doubt that he's a Colonel so that rules out the Broadmoor and their green fees. I've been in Colorado Springs since 1972. I was a member at the Academy since then until I had to give up golf due to lower back problems in 2004. The Blue course has the most difficult greens you will ever putt on. I saw Tiger play in a tournament there when he was a Junior and he couldn't figure them out. Peterson AFB also has a course so you have three military courses to choose from which will go easy on the golf budget.

Broadmoor is in my personal Top 5. The resort as a whole is a phenomenal place. Stayed in a golf cottage a few years ago, and it’s the nicest place I’ve ever stayed. The back patio was adjacent to a fairway, separated by a trout stream, there were herds of deer roaming around, they actually still came do turn down service in the evenings. The floor of the bathroom was heated. Great place if you want to treat yourself.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the golf package?

I didn’t pay. My customer had a conference there and I was a sponsor/attendee. It was a pretty awesome experience. I got to meet and introduce Sully Sullenburger who was the key note speaker to a crowd of 2000 people. .

I got to play all 3 courses over the years in charity tournaments when the company was picking up the tab.

I got to see Sully speak at the AF Academy a few years ago. I didn't receive golf cottage accommodations at the Broadmoor.

Four Mile Ranch in Cañon City, south of Fort Carson, is very unique. The greens are the craziest you’ll ever play. It makes for a fun round but definitely have to go into with an open mind.
Other than the Broadmore I haven’t played anything in Colorado Springs, but Perry Park in Larskpur, Plum Creek and Redhawk Ridge in Castle Rock are fun and inexpensive. Perry Park is private but you can play as a prospective member for there guest fee.

Wonder if it was around the same time. This was probably in 2014 if memory serves.
The amazing thing to me was how obvious the difference was between the original Ross holes and the RTJ holes. The Ross holes were a lot more fun, RTJ holes were definitely more difficult. We played East and West Courses.

I played Perry Park several times many years ago before it went private. Probably one of the most scenic courses I've ever played.

Yeah, I've heard absolutely great things about the Broadmoor, but as stated, it's well outside my price range. I just can't drop $240 or whatever it is to play a round of golf.
Maybe once before I leave, on a birthday or some special occasion i might. I also don't want to pay that much simply because I dont play well enough to justify paying that.
