While I really think O will be back in 2019 as HC, I think this year is really going to set his trajectory at LSU. If he wins big, he'll go a long way to silencing his critics. If he loses, I doubt he gets fired, but he'll be essentially a lame duck coach going into 2019.
Re: recruiting, O was on a roll until this weekend. It was a huge misstep not to have a big event this weekend. Maybe Emery was headed to UGA all along, maybe he was on the fence and this visit there sealed it for him. Either way, LSU was caught at the plate looking and should have had something bigger planned.
Winning this season will go a long way for O's tenure here, and the recruiting class for 2019.
