On any given day, don’t you think all 2nd/3rd team backups at LSU should beat any team at Troy. Just saying, I know how the mentality is against weaker opponents, players care less but still falls on coaching, no excuses

Yet Clemson had to rally late in the 4th quarter to beat Troy in 2016, the year Clemson won the NC. Troy isn't great, but they have proven they can hang with and beat better teams if the better team isn't playing their best. Way too much is still being made of this. It was a perfect storm, lack of players, 4 turnovers, missed field goals...shite happens

Nope. There is a lot more parity in college football today. This isn't the seventies or early eighties.

This is that Tiger ego/attitude at work. The answer is not necessarily as we discovered. If a player does not know the playbook well enough because it is early in the season and they didn't expect to play much then they will be out of position, go the wrong way, etc. The player's attitude has a lot to do with it also. If you think the game is won before you kickoff then you will be casual about your job and not put out maximum effort. Hell that is why we lost Miss St. Look at that game again. Miss St. is as fired up as a team and a crowd can be. We look like robots with no energy in comparison.
