I guess.. If we’re talking strictly proximity, Hammond wins by a mile. Easy access to the coast beaches, Less than an hour from Nola and BR. If you’re going to BR for most game days, Lafayette or Hammond is the place you want to be. But then again, if proximity to a better place is your main selling point, the town itself probably blows

at the idea that Baton Rouge isn’t a “college town”, while posters are using distance from LSU football as a metric.

LSU is the fourth largest employer in Baton Rouge behind the state, EBR parish schools, and Turner Industries. One out of every six people in (incorporated) BR are either students or employees at LSU. It’s a college town.
