hen OSU QB coach and OC Tom Herman saw enough to like to recruit him, over others he could have gone after.

They also recruited and signed Torrence Gibson that year

And there is no doubt that Burrow has improved his skills and physical size and strength over that 4 star high school kid Herman signed.

Size and strength sure. We just haven’t really seen those “skills” in an actual meaningful game or situation

A Florida writer had an interesting take on Burrow months ago as to why he thought Joe would be a good fit for the Gators. It’s an interesting read and film study, and still applies today.

The major premise of his article is that Burrow was accurate in high school. What college QB recruit isn’t? He then has two clips from Burrow playing up 46 points vs. Bowling Green and up 52 points vs Maryland. Look I hope he’s incredible and wins the heisman and LSU goes undefeated but the hype on this kid who couldn’t beat out JT Barrret or Haskins is out of control.

If you think most college QB recruits have 70% accuracy, you'd be thinking wrong, that is an elite percentage, but hey, I guess watching isn't the same as seeing.

And? Everybody that recruited Gibson thought of him as an athlete, but knew they needed to get him in as a QB. Many predicted a huge year at WR before he screwed up.

I can understand what you are saying, but like it or not, he did play in those games vs people trying to stop him and scheme against him

I was cool with what you said until the last bit. Couldn't beat out Barrett? You mean the guy that rewrote Big 10 record books? The guy has 25 Ohio St records and several Big 10 records (including one that was owned by his now teammate Drew Brees). His numbers rival Tebow's. Hell, Cam Newton didn't beat out Tebow, (was there for two years) and you know the rest to that story.

Also not being able to beat out Haskins? Look, I know you guys barely pay attention to anything outside of the LSU bubble, but Haskins is legit. Lightning quick release, strong arm, extremely accurate, decently mobile, and ranked much higher than Burrow. The guy didn't want to risk not winning the job, so he left. Haskins has more eligibility and actually beat Michigan during the season.

Burrow didn't lose out to scrubs or average guys, hell, even above average guys. He lost out to a statistical juggernaut and didn't want to risk losing out to the guy who beat Michigan, and who NFL scouts are talking about with his pro potential. I know a lot of y'all are hesitant, and with good reason, but I'm buying one million percent into Burrow. Thank God he was coached under Urban Meyer's people. Combine that with his skillset and our talent, and he's going to be the best QB we've had since Russell.
