I’m wanting to give my dad a memorable gift for his 70th birthday this year and I’m hoping someone on the board can help. My family only has 1 photograph (however there are 2 prints of the same image) of my great-grandfather, and both were significantly damaged by the 2016 flood. I’d like to see if anyone could take the two photos and create 1 composite image. Im aware that it likely won’t be easy, if it can be done at all, because of the condion of the images and the portions missing. A few years ago I saw a similar post done for another member but I can’t seem to track it down (believe it was a WWII portrait related image).
Below are photos the two images that I took on my phone, so I’ll need to scan them both for better quality and reupload them. I’d appreciate anyone that could help.

I would love to help with this, but her eyes will be tough to reproduce. Other than that, it should be doable. Any other pictures with her eyes?

I would greatly appreciate any effort that you can give.
Sadly, these are the only two that we have.
There may be other images that extended family members posses, however I’ve never had any contact with those relatives. My dad moved around a lot as a kid, followed by tours in Vietnam, so he lost contact with a lot of his side of the family.
Would it be possible to try a reproduction of the image as a whole and maybe one of just my grandfather since it may be a greater challenge as it pertains to my grandmother?

Great gift but we’d have to know the curvatures of their eyes, mouth etc to create a match. I’m doing a similar project for a family tree (gift for my 100 yr old grandmother). I called several distant family and asked them for old photos and info and they were all very helpful. Might work for you as well

I love the thought. Really wanted to help. Tried for about an hour. Just didn't look right.
Just a thought, as a Dad, the outcome isn't what's special. It's that you tried. If I were him, seeing this thread, and what you're trying to do, would bring a tear to the eye.
Why not screen print the thread, take the old photos, do the best you can do, and put it all in a thread collage or something and say "Dad, I really tried, but.."
I'd love the sentiment more than the outcome personally.
Just a thought.
Maybe there is a way to do it, I can't.

That does suck about the water damage to the photo though.
