Centipede runners (stolons) not getting cut

I have a centipede lawn and lately when I mow I noticed a bunch of the stolons are not getting cut. I have not been bagging my clippings this year and recently put on a new blade. This issue seems to be happening in the thicker area of the lawn and against my fence. I'm starting to think I am mowing too low and the clippings are building up thatch and preventing the stolons from clinging to the soil. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I'm planning on raising the mower and bagging my clippings for a few weeks. My yard looks pretty nice but these things sticking up look horrible.

Pics would be helpful...but IMO, if you are seeing the stolons, you are definitely cutting too low. Just stepped out and snapped this of my centipede. Stolons should be hidden well below the canopy.
ETA: Decent comparison (besides daylight) of my lawn. Sig pic is last year, using Holganix chicken waste fertilizer, and this year using Milorganite human waste fertilizer w/ iron. I think the iron gave it a darker green tone.

This is the first time uploading a pic. This might be a fail.

Damn it I'm jealous of your centipede lawn. My back yard is looking close to that but I have several areas that just won't fill in thick.

It's hard to tell in the first pic but the second pic is torpedo. Definitely

Your lawn is looking great Boot. My dogs cause me so many problems with the cold this year. Just getting it back into shape.

Tomorrow I will rip one out and take a pic against the sidewalk. I will also take a close up of the grass to make sure I do have centipede grass. Thanks for all of the help. The good news is I am renting and will be moving before the end of the year.

I see lots of torpedo in that picture

Torpedo is such a pain in the arse. That yard was probably dressed with some sand or something, and the seed was in that. Good news is that it won't be your problem much longer

I agree bootlegger
. It looks pretty good from a distance though. When I move do I need to thoroughly clean all of my equipment so I don't contaminate my new place?

Lmao. One guy gave good directions for dealing with torpedo grass.
Rip it out.
Burn the yard.
Sell your house in the winter before anyone can see it come back.
