Was this Robert Carlyle's coming out party and where does it rank in the pantheon of Samuel L. Jackson films?
Personally, my list would be something like this:
Pulp Fiction
JP
Django Unchained
Formula 51
The Hateful Eight
SW trilogy
Lakeview Terrace
Kong: Skull Island
Black Snake Moan
.

.
.
Jackie Brown

.
.
Side-note: I've only seen 2 or 3 Marvel movies.

Very good movie. Carlyle is very talented and has lots of range.
To name a few, he’s hilarious in Formula 51, sympathetic in the Full Monty, and intense in Ravenous and 28 Weeks Later.
Jackson was solid in this movie, but not sure it cracks his top 10 in my book.

A couple interesting things I've uncovered about this movie. In Carlyle's Wikipedia the title is listed as "the 51st state" while Rotten Tomatoes has no mention of such a movie. "Formula 51" got a tomatometer score of 26% but an audience score of 59% which tells you a lot about the movie itself. It's for YOU.

Possibly Meatloaf's best movie also if you don't count his role in Fight Club.

The location for The Lizard's (a.k.a. Meatloaf)'s Lab is the same as Paddy's Pub from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Four years after winning a Best Actor BAFTA and two years after being the main villain in a Bond movie? Dude was out.
