What’s Phoenix’s motivation to do this trade without a pick?
Lose Knight and his contract, move on from Chriss, save some money (Anderson took a pay cut to make the deal happen), get a young guy many were high on who fell in the draft, get Anderson.
They aren't trying to win now, thinking Anderson signals that is odd to me. Worst thing they could do is rush to get a "pg" i hate Kemba on this team and wouldn't want to pay the price to get McCollum from Portland
It's about developing their young 3 (21, 21, 20) into functioning pros. Ariza is no nonsense and great locker room vet. Anderson is limited, but what he does well will help make things easier on offense for Booker, Jackson, and Ayton. They can be looking for/developing their next PF who can play when they do get serious about winning
Also not sure how many more picks/young guys Phoenix needs- they have their triforce plus they now have 3 other rookies from this draft (Bridges, Okobo, Melton) and Bender is still only 20.
I like this for Phoenix, but I suspect McDonough or Sarver will frick it up because that's what they do. I like it for Houston too. Doubt Knight or Chriss do much, but they know Anderson can't help them and D'Antoni has a way of maximizing flawed players
