Fishing guide on home lake

Has anyone here ever went out with a guide on one of your local/home lakes? I'm wondering if it's worth it, and if you learned anything from the experience.
I have been bass fishing my home lake for some time now, and while I can always catch fish, it's usually limited to 3-4 in the boat.
I know there are plenty of big fish on this lake (Bistineau in NWLA for those wondering), and good numbers, but it is a VERY hard lake to learn.
I have always had good luck hiring guides on trips down south for redfish and trout, but that is really my only experience.

Yes. They can teach you how to correctly fish the lake, types of areas the fish like during different seasons. Basically, give you help in finding your own fish.
I am hiring a guide on Toledo to help me setup my units, better read my units and how to narrow down areas that should hold fish.
