As a contemporary and one who fraternized with and shared a real meeting-of-the-minds with the original Frankfurt School cadre of neo-Marxists, the guy who wrote it had absolutely no problem with such dystopianism taking over the West.
Even considering the legion of rabid acolytes they're responsible for producing over the years, those "originals" remain the "founding fathers" of the Leftivists you see rampant now — most of whom are not even aware of the cabal who actually conceptualized the undermining, counter-cultural "principles" that fuel their reason for existing.
