I was Literally asked why it’s a dumb rule.
Also, it’s fricking a fricking dumb rule because The owners and colleges are hurting themselves by not allowing this players to play for some harmless activity.

Well the law of our nation prohibits the smoking of marijuana (among many other drugs). Ergo, the owners and colleges (parties who get an anti-trust exemption and federal funding, respectively) don't flaunt disrespect for federal laws.
That's called common sense. No one wants members of Congress to talk about investigating drug use in college football or repealing tax exempt status for the NCAA or the anti-trust exemption of the NFL, no matter how unrealistic the reality of that happening.
