What is your point? You are talking about the border states like Maryland and Missouri that were to big of pussies to actually secede from the union. They were exempt from the emancipation proclamation until the war was over. Robert E Lee took a knee and surrendered to Grant on 4/12/1865 and the 13th Amendment was ratified on 12/6/1865 making slavery illegal anywhere in the U.S. So about 8 months of legal slavery continued in that time period...so what? Are you making some sort of pro-slavery argument?

You were going off on some rant about how the evil traiterous slave states deserved to be fought because of slavery.

I just wanted to remind you slavery was still legal in the north for the duration of the war and then some.

NO! It was not! Slavery was illegal in all Union states during and after the conflict. It was legal in the border states that are technically north of something but not "the north". They were not Union or confederacy during the war so Lincoln and the Union didn't make the effort to worry about forcing the implementation of the emancipation proclamation until afterwards. 8 months later it was ratified for all of the states.
