I feel like Pol Pot doesn't get nearly the amount of attention he deserves.

The cambodian genocide killed upwards of 3.5 million people in the 70s.

The TOTAL population of cambodia at the time was 7 million.

Dude killed ALMOST HALF OF THE HIS COUNTRY.

It is the highest percentage of people killed in a country in world history.

Think about that for a minute..... For every one person that survived in cambodia from 75 to 79, one person died.

What percentage of Americans know who pol pot was?

What about the Bolsheviks Revolution? People talk about Hitler killing Jews. The Bolsheviks were Jews...and they killed 10 million Christian Russians. You don't see our history books talk about that!!!

My daughter visited the field of bones when she lived in Cambodia a few years ago. At least the people there remember.

Historically, Genghis Khan probably was worse. He and the Mongols depopulated entire swaths of Asia.

For example, according to the works of the Iranian historian Rashid al-Din (1247–1318), the Mongols killed more than 700,000 people in Merv and more than a million in Nishapur. The total population of Persia may have dropped from 2,500,000 to 250,000 as a result of mass extermination and famine.

This is not to say Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, Mao and their ilk weren't all horrible.

There are some varying economic forms between the most extreme fascism and extreme communism, but from the worm's eye view of a common person, they are equally nightmarish.
