Having hinted in previous movies that the Infinity Stones are extremely powerful artifacts, they will turn out to be mere rocks with no plot utility whatsoever.
Thanos, arguably the most powerful and threatening being in the Marvel universe, will be played for laughs.
As others have said, Captain America will be in hiding, convinced that the idea of the superhero must die. Stan Lee will appear in ghost form to counsel him, inexplicably agree that superheroes are and have always been stupid, and set fire to the last remaining comic books on earth with his ghostly mind powers.
The Avengers will win in the end by running away so successfully that Thanos is befuddled and goes to do something else.

It’s sad but I can honestly see Johnson doing this exact plot based on his moronic creative take on TLJ...
