Males not being surrounded by adult make role models in their formative years is massively hurting today's young men.
My dad worked a lot when I was growing up, all my teachers were female, and my mother and sister were basically who raised me. It has had a huge affect on me, and I'm just now really overcoming it.

I know exactly where you're coming from. My dad worked a lot to make sure we always had what we needed growing up. He taught me some, but I had to learn many of the basic stuff, that dad's teach their sons, on my own over the years.

My dad worked 80 hrs a week most of my childhood. While it afforded us some nice things, I did miss out on a fair amount of quality time.
Honestly, most of my life skills were learned through my time in Boy Scouts. I wanted to be an Eagle Scout just like my dad. Perhaps that was some sort of attention thing.
While in college I decided not to be a doctor like my dad because of the work life balance, although I realize that varies depending on specialty and such. Right now I have a great work life balance, and am able to spend a ton of time with my kids.
