I pretty much only stick with the m4/scar as my primary now, so I've been trying out other guns as secondary. The Kar98 is obviously nice, but I feel like the PUBG meta is changing to AR/DMR single fire tapping to deal as much damage as possible

No reason to choose anything other than M4 right now, to me anyway. If I don't have a KAR, I will carry two and have one on semi with range. More control and more rounds than the mini and SKS, more rounds on target for me > damage at this point.
M4 is broken but I am going to keep abusing it until they fix it.
