Was the machine actually broken or just turned off? What is McD's corporate policy on turning off functioning machines during business hours?
They cannot possibly be ignorant to the fact that millions are being lost due to employees turning machines off early on a daily basis.

That's easily offset by the low wages they can pay their high turnover staff market.
