Amite High is basically segregated, and the residents could care less about the school or it’s players. There is no suppport or push to players attending Bama. It was white flight at its best to say it kindly, and justifiably so

What has happened is that a Bama staff member is working with a former friend to develop Amite and Kentwood players for UA

It’s been an untapped source of talent for some time that is just now being realized.

I doubt LSU gets any of the players in that area, unless they are second tier

Yeah, they've really done well in that area. It also doesn't help LSU's cause that a true freshman WR from the same HS (and former teammate) just caught the game winning pass in the NC game for Bama. I think most probably feel this kid going to Bama is a near certainty.

That said, while you never like to lose top flight in-state talent (particularly to the team you MUST beat), it's easier to find a replacement at WR than it is with a lineman. That's why the DT is a MUCH bigger priority. If O can't get him to LSU, then you really have to wonder of what use Ogeron is to the program? That would be the loss of a Louisiana kid who also plays Ogeron's only position of expertise. If O were still just the DL coach and losing such guys then everyone would be clamoring to replace him. Why should it be any different now that he is the HC?

DO NOT take their second-tier kids. If Bama is going to get all of their top-tier kids, then the Amite staff should work out package deals so that the second-tier kids can go there as well.
