I will give you this, I'd imagine that these numbers are a statewide average and not true if you compared Nola to Odessa. Otherwise LA taxes pretty much = TX taxes

Moved to Houston from Baton Rouge 4 yrs ago. Mostly everything across the board is cheaper. Home owners insurance, car insurance is 1/2 what it was much better coverage, gas, water, electric, housing construction, house repairs, groceries, gas. I don't get where it's $200-300 year difference. It's well over that per month savings in basic everyday items. Then you factor in higher wages.
