I started reading this thread and felt I had to post because the first 8 or so threads could not be more misleading. I didn’t read the rest.
How long is your resume? In the private sector you are providing a resume to get an interview. On USAJOBS you are posting a resume to get a job. My first time applying I was offered the job on the first contact I had with the agency (contingent on getting security approval). Just carefully read the job description and the questions provided. Make sure your resume backs up your answers. Also remember that you are likely competing with hundreds of applicants, some of which are vets and will score higher.
It will take a few months most of the time for HR to go through the information and choose which applicants they will refer. Think quality instead of quantity when you post.
