New yard guy here. Without much research, I put down a couple bags of Scott’s Bonus S weed and feed about 2 weeks ago. Didn’t have enough to finish the backyard and decided to wait and see how it worked before buying another bag to finish. Pleased to say that it killed all of the burweed (too late to help with the stickers, but it’s dead) and there was a noticeable difference in the color of my St Augustine grass from where it was treated and not treated. Much darker green where it was treated.
Anyways, the more research I’ve done, the more it says not to use a weed and feed. That I should use a preemergent in the fall (for the burweed), then a post emergent again in early February, and to fertilize separately beginning in mid-April.
My questions are:
1. Can you guys recommend specific products for me to use for each (preemergent and post emergent weed killer, and a fertilizer. Granular preferred)
2. Are my timelines above correct?
3. Can I use the bonus s in the fall as a preemergent/fall fertilization? Or should I do it separately in the fall too? (Thinking October)
