The evil we are seeing on the rise is not an overall rise in violence, it’s the rise in a callousness and total disregard for human life. People do not view human life as sacred. It’s cheap. Has no meaning. And thus, human life can be thrown away at a whim. We are a godless people, lost and blind to the point we don’t even know what we don’t know. We’re fools who have only fooled ourselves into thinking we’re wise. We reject wisdom and instead accept foolishness that only leads to perdition and destruction. That’s the evil we face today, our own evil.

So your argument is that a "rise in callousness and total disregard for human life" doesn't cause an overall rise in violence, but does cause a very specific rise in a very specific kind of mass murder? Seems like a poor argument.

This is a huge part of it. A portion of this country's citizens actually encourage abortion and discourage the traditional family model. It really shouldn't be too surprising that mass killings are becoming more common. The problem is that the same people that have been pushing these social changes now want to blame inanimate objects for the consequences.
