Yes they were. But i Still think this and the shield riding bit were over the top and PJ getting cute for the audience. That’s his prerogative just as it was mine not to care for it. I think it was inserted so the hero’s could have a scene when the real showstoppers should have been the ride of the Rohirrim, Éowyn taking out the Witch King (best scene in the movie) and the routing and subsequent release of the army of the dead.

No need to get snippy. It was a great hero scene but i think I’m on safe ground in saying that this was overpowered when compared to the trilogy and supporting works. It took the whole company to defeat the one cave troll, the Uruk kai chieftain took Aragorn to the wall and a whole regiment of silvan elves were taken out by orcs at helms deep - not in the books I know but still inserted in the movie.
To each his own. Just my take.
