No matter what happens, as a controversy for sure.

I don't think the view will be favorable, eventually. Just looking at O, listening to him, seeing his decisions like OC's, he has a 0% chance of winning an NC imo. There's just no way you put that guy into a 2 game playoff and he has any chance of being consistent enough, and instilling a winning attitude into a team, to win against the Sabans, Meyers or the programs like Clemson. LSU is unfocused, and he's going against programs that have created laser-like focus on winning football games. O is not that kind of coach. He's in way over his head, and he's trying to use his "interim" skills to coach, and that will not work long term. I used to think he had a shot at an SEC Championship, at least a small one, but looking at the new coaches, the recruiting, Yeah I'd almost carry that 0% chance over to the SECC. O's ceiling seems to be 9-10 wins and maybe lucking into an SEC Championship. I don't see any evidence that he can do better than that.
