Don't go outside the box on V-Day. Just don't.

Stick to the standards. Flowers, candy, dinner.

Women say they like grand romantic gestures. They don't. It's all an act.

If you didn't do the above "traditional, safe," V-day requirements, and you said, "Hey, babe... I love you, and I don't want to do all the Valentine's day stuff, this year. Here's a song I wrote for you," and you got your guitar out and sang it to her, she would fricking hate it. Maybe 5% of all women have the maturity to appreciate something like that.

Take it from a veteran. Play it safe on V-Day, anniversaries, birthdays, Mother's Day, and Christmas. Five days to never take a chance on, year after year. It sucks. It's boring. I understand wanting to try something different. DON'T.

Dinner on Vday sucks though. Every restaurant is packed (sometimes with limited menus) and you get subpar service because of that. We’ve had to wait an hour before even with a reservation at restaurants on Vday.

Go out to eat before or after actual Vday. Will be a much better experience imo.
