What TheWiz said. $10 a day and there are no overage charges.

Okay, I recently changed cell plans (for a lot of boring reasons I won’t go into here), and now Verizon wants to charge me $10/day to activate in Europe plus I’m drawing from my existing data allocation. Seeing as I really like to use maps, search food/drink recs on the fly, etc, I am concerned with insufficient data for my upcoming long road trip through s Italy/Sicily.

So Expresso will rent a pocket wi-fi hotspot with unlimited data for 65 euros for the duration of my trip. I can pick it up at FCO upon arrival and return it to a drop box at the airport 24/7. This is for 11 days of useage, so it’s quite a bit cheaper than the daily pass on my existing plan. (Existing phone is not jail broken, so I can’t simply swap sims for a local prepaid card).

Anyone have experience with Expresso? If I’m overlooking another obvious solution, please tell me.

Same. Have done this in Western and Central (and some Eastern) European countries and end up with better coverage than at home.

It's nice to have full cell use, IMO. If you're hiring cars/using Uber/making reservations on the go, etc., I'd definitely recommend it.
