A speech course was a requirement in my major. On the first day the instructor read this old Seinfeld quote




So true. Most people don't really like public speaking. I've got a bit of a reserved personality, I don't generally like being the focus of attention so I dreaded the course. We had to give several different speeches of around 10 minutes on different topics and of different speech types (informative, persuasive).

It's nerve-wracking but that's life. Tell your friend to nut up and get over it. At some point beyond college, she'll have to speak to strangers or even colleagues in a presentation setting. Better to practice in a classroom setting now than freak out when your job depends on it.
