This is a good question.

Let's say Vermillion Parish School board budget is roughly 100 million a year, but varies with sales tax revenue, meaning oil-related revenue is a pretty big deal.

Superintendent administers that budget to support 25 or so schools and several thousand employees, supposedly under a ton of scrutiny, including legislative auditors.

Comparatively, Vermillion parish schools score pretty well.

How much should the superintendent make?

Idk where everyone is at on this conversation, but even scoring well and being such a large parish, I think it’s still hard to justify giving yourself a raise when the teachers have had to make cuts and increase their class size at the same time. Now, I get logically, raising just the Superintendents salary is a lot less money than giving every teacher in the parish a raise. BUT, I think it comes down to the principle of the matter in their minds. And honestly, if I was in a business and we were bleeding for money and having more work piled on us but no raise for years and my boss decided he’d just give himself a raise, I’d be pissed.

Regardless, I give it a few weeks before one of the teachers accuse him of sexual harassment now.
