It's because canada doesn't run anything creative out of the shifts. He just moves guys around to run basic plays. Malzahn is more creative

The shifts are in service of the reads, they largely aren't used to fool a defense. To be clear, there are some shifts that are for decoy or deceptive purposes, but the garden variety shifting is to help the offense with their reads.
