Ducks behavior in Louisiana has definitely changed. Sadly rather quickly. The rice fields in SW La. used to be a haven. Not anymore. Also marsh activity has slowed to a crawl. Reports say there are plenty of ducks but they aren't here. I believe it is a combination of several factors and there are probably more than I am aware of.

SW LA is having a dismal year. I made a trip passing through Elton, Kinder, South LC, Grand Lake, Little and Grand Chenier, across and back up through Cameron and Hackberry. It was the least amount of birds I had ever seen. Little to no birds visible in the fields, marshes, flying, or on open water. Just dismal.
My brother in law hunts somewhere around Morgan City apparently it isn’t much better there either.
I have friends that are slaughtering the birds in OK and North Texas just like it used to be here.
