Nobody should give a shite about the 4th spot.

Think of it as the old system of picking the two national championship teams but just to be sure no team who has a case of being in the championship game gets left out, they add two more teams.

The 4th place team really doesn’t have an argument for being ranked 1 or 2 and playing in the championship, so the 4th place team should just be thankful they even get a shot.

If you look at it like that, you don’t fall into the trap of feeling sorry for any team who was “left out”.

Exactly. No matter how many teams are added, somebody will be “left out”. 4 is plenty. A “Final 4” feeling is cool and is plenty.

Wanna fix it? Do away with conference championships. Make that week a “play in” week. Answer all of these questions. BAMA plays Ohio State or USC plays Penn State to get to the 4 game tourney. That’s my answer, but it’s pissing in the wind and STILL “leaves someone out”.
