You’re probably coming out much further ahead. Louisiana sales tax+Income tax+the cost of putting your kid in a private school (which is a necessity if you don’t want them stabbed) would cost a hell of a lot more than 6k.

It’s amazing that Texas is right next door and we are worlds apart in terms of having shite together.

You can live in the burbs and send your kids to a decent public school which is what most people that move to Texas do anyway. I wouldn't put my kids in an inner city Houston public school. The job market/business climates aren't comparable though.

I wonder what the difference is for home owner's insurance as well. I know ours is outrageous in south LA.
