What about making it, you spend the amount of time in jail by how old the deer was?

I get the sentiment, but I feel this is backwards. While older mature bucks are harder to come by and more of a prized deer, the biggest issue hunters normally face is too many people killing young deer.

So that would be counterproductive to deer management if a 1.5 year old spike gets you 1.5 years, but a 7.5 year old buck that will probably die of natural causes soon gets you 7.5 years.

Now if you tack on the poaching, illegal weapon method, AND undersized / illegal deer now you are talking.

This jackass should have had "out of season" tacked on because it was an archery only county and there is no rifle season, but I guess that is where the poaching charge hits.
