In fairness, they may have done that.
Leia left Han's dashboard dice behind instead of taking it with her so she may have known it wasn't really there.
Which makes Luke even more of an idiot for maxing out his power to the point of death just so the Millenium Falcon's dashboard dice could be with Leia in spirit for a few minutes so I guess I shouldn't have gone there.

My guess is these will be a pretty big part of the Han Solo movie next year. I think that was Disney's reasoning for showing them several times.
