Ballers is a solid show and I'll continue watching it, but Entourage was way better.
There was something sort of relatable to the Entourage characters that's missing in Ballers. They were just a bunch of regular guys that kind of lucked their way into Hollywood, and even though they hung out with A list stars, they stumbled around fricking up for awhile trying to get a hold and make a real name for themselves in Hollywood. Then even when they were ballin and living in mansions, they were still ultimately just guys that wanted to hang out, drink beers, and hit on girls (just like all of us).
Ballers doesn't have that. Everyone in the show is a multi millionaire NFL star or agent. Even the Rock character has already played what we're led to believe is a hall of fame NFL career. Yes he goes through some struggles on a personal level. But his career struggles aren't real struggles. It's battles between billionaires to buy NFL teams. When he needs money his multi millionaire friends/clients can just hand him 5 mil like it's nothing. Yes they're also trying to build a business, but you don't get the feeling like it would be crushing if the business went under. He'd still be a superstar ex-NFL player with connections all over the place. The only "normal" guy in the show is Joe, and he's basically a cartoon character so it's hard to relate to him on a human level.
