It will still have massive ratings in the USA. There is a reason fox payed so much god damn money for the rights to coverage. Even without the USA it will do well.
There are a ton of intriguing matchups and if casuals would just give it an honest shot on one of the opening matches, like Iceland and Argentina, Mexico and Germany, or Spain and Portugal... it will capture a solid 75% of their interests.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat it domestic leagues like; obviously the MLS, but even leagues like the premier league or la liga(probably the two most popular in the world at this point) are not going to be those 75% of casuals cup of tea but, the World Cup is just a whole different beast when it comes to the passion and weight of the World Cup.
