I think it speaks more volumes at how desperate schools like TAMU is and how shitty the outlook is on great potential coaching hires. They honestly don't have a lot of hot names out there. I wonder if LSU wasn't sold on anyone when they hired O and just went cheap. Give the shrimp boat capatain in his white rubber boots a chance who did an okay job as interim and if he fails within 2-3 years, maybe you'll have someone out there who's a better hire. Just doesn't seem like they have any ripple making hires going on in NCAA. Jimbo's stock definitely shouldn't be as high as it was. You could make legit arguments Winston was what made his career as HC because outside those seasons, they've been very mediocre at FSU.

shite, I would've took him over O in a heartbeat though. At least he'd maintain elite recruiting and could even beat Saban on some recruits. He seems high risk at this point though, especially the buyout/salary he'll be demanding. But really though, do they have any other proven commodities out there you can hire? I think that's where the problem lies in NCAA right now. You're not going to get someone like Saban or Urban Meyer right now.
