He left in December. There was plenty of time to give him a scholarship for the following year. You really don’t know what you are talking about.
Bottom line is he was pissed about not being named the starter for the bowl game most likely and quit out of spite. Glad it worked out for him but his temper and bad decisions will catch up to him eventually. Hope I’m wrong.

Lol yes I do. Mayfield was allowed a third year at OU because Tech never offered him a written scholarship. Literally why that rule exists, if he had been offered a scholarship he wouldn’t be playing.
He was supposedly told they would put him on a scholarship that next Fall and he said frick that, he plays most valuable position in the game why should he have to wait? He held all the leverage. No different than a free agent in the NFL.
He wasn’t starting at Tech and he thought he should have been and he was clearly right.
