People keep mentioning leash laws, do leash laws apply with regards to one's own back yard, especially if the yard is fenced?? I let my dog (male german shepherd) out in our yard (fenced) off-leash all the time. I guess the shared yard could cloud the situation to some degree with regard to the leash law.

Given the facts of the incident as I read them, I would move on.

PS, as someone else posted, wheel-barrowing the back legs is the go to when you have to get involved in a dog on dog or dog on human situation.

Likely theses dogs have been in a literal pissing match over territory. The territory of the backyard.

The aggressor dog did what any dog would do. he defended his territory from an outside threat.
