Aren't they required to give you an easement to access your property if it is landlocked?

They are, but we don’t want our driveway going through their property in case we decide to sell their home in the future after their passing. Don’t want to share a driveway with strangers.

I think yes if its an existing parcel or piece of property. Nowadays most subdivision regs do not allow you to create "new landlocked parcels".
