Not really, he is just much smarter than the rabble they follow these days. Carter was/is a statesman. Today's democrats were pink cowboy hat and say "Tim Tevo, jive and Go GATA" on the Senate floor.

The fact that people like Carter and Alan Dershowitz are now considered moderates compared to the rest of the Democratic Party, is reason #1 why they keep losing elections
