Saban sure did overcome UAB and ULM.

I almost put that in my first post, but hesitated due to the ridiculous O and Saban comparisons. The situations aren’t remotely similar, based on where the program was in 2000 vs 2017, or based on the resumes of the coaches before those losses.

That said, when I look back at the 2000 season, I surely don’t dwell on the UAB game.

I think about the amazing wins against Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia Tech.

Yeah, maybe some of that is because Saban went on to give us such great success in 2001 and 2003, but even before all that, in that offseason, the wins were what stood out. To me, anyway.

If this team goes 9-3, even though our schedule is ridiculously easy outside of Alabama, I'm pretty sure I’ll remember the wins more.

Assuming we look like a team that is building toward something like we did in 2000. Not just that we sucked less than the OM, Ark, and Tenn teams, which is how I felt about the Florida game, for the record.
