re: how many people do you know who have OD'd on heroin?

One of my best friends (25 yrs old) died from a speedball OD in 1995. Another of my friends (47 yrs old) was an Atty in NOLA and died this past year from a heroin OD. Read any newspaper obituary and it's pretty sad seeing so many young people who are no longer with us. I have no doubt it would have been me in the obits had I not gone to treatment when I was 19 yrs. old. Been clean and sober since 12-27-87, and I do everything within my power to help those who are committed to getting sober and wanting to turn over a new leaf. Life is so very short, and you can only help those who truly want to help themselves.
