I had flood insurance for Katrina and turned in an itemized list to the adjuster with depreciated prices. They called me after reviewing it and told me not to depreciate anything; that’s their job.
So I did what they asked. Turned out they didn’t depreciate anything. I got full price for all of the lost contents.
Edit: Also, if your garage slab is lower than the house, nothing in there is covered. So the adjuster that came to the house pointed at everything in my garage and said “None of that was in the garage when the storm hit, understand?”
